This page introduces you to the host country and city for this edition, highlighting their history, key features, and commitment to sport and youth.

Hungary

Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe surrounded by Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Austria. The Danube River forms part of Hungary’s north-western border with Slovakia, and then flows south through Budapest, dividing Hungary into two general regions. A low, rolling plain known as the Great Hungarian Plain, covers most of the region east of the Danube extending east to Romania and south to Serbia. Hungary has a continental climate with cold, cloudy, humid winters and warm to hot summers.

Sukoró

Nestled on the northern shore of Lake Velence, halfway between Budapest and Lake Balaton, Sukoró is a charming town that blends natural beauty, history, and sport. Surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills, it offers a peaceful setting with stunning views of the water and the Velence Hills.

Sukoró is best known as a traditional holiday and recreation spot, where visitors can enjoy sailing, fishing, cycling, or simply relaxing on the lakeside beaches.

Today, Sukoró is home to the brand-new Katalin Kovács National Kayak-Canoe Academy, a state-of-the-art venue that places the town on the map of international sport. The lake and its modern facilities make it a perfect stage for canoeing, rowing, and SUP competitions, while also welcoming amateur water-lovers year-round.

Beyond sport, Sukoró charms its guests with family-owned wineries, traditional Hungarian cuisine, and friendly hospitality. Whether you seek active recreation, cultural discovery, or pure relaxation, Sukoró promises memorable experiences by the water.

Óbuda University

Óbuda University is one of Hungary’s leading technical higher education institutions, with over 12,000 students across seven faculties, including the Alba Regia Technical Faculty in Székesfehérvár. Its practice-oriented education is closely linked to industry, supported by strong international relations and active membership in the European University Sports Association (EUSA).

The university is committed to supporting student-athletes on the international stage and may provide participants for the FISU World University Championship, while also playing a key role in the event’s professional organization. Notably, it will coordinate the volunteer programme, from recruitment to training.

A portion of the athletes’ accommodation for athletes will be arranged in Székesfehérvár, just 22 km from Sukoró, ensuring easy access to the venue. By prioritizing sustainability, comfort, and high-quality delivery, Óbuda University aims to contribute to an exemplary international event that promotes canoe sports and enhances its own reputation at home and abroad.
